Sour Cream Cookies

Sour Cream Cookies

My Mom and my sister and I always made these every Christmas! They are so good...a family favorite!   We usually double this!

½ C. Shortening

1 tsp. vanilla Extract

1 C. Sugar

1 Egg, beaten

2 2/3 C. Sifted Flour

1 tsp. Baking Powder

½ tsp. Baking Soda

½ tsp. Salt

¼ tsp. nutmeg

½  C. Sour Cream

Beat together shortening, vanilla, and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour cream. Roll dough ¼ in. thick on floured surface. Cut with 2-inch cutter (or ay cookie cutters). Place on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 425° about 8 minutes. Do not overbake; cookies should be light colored.
