Easy to Understand Christian Lingo!

Below is easy quick definitions for some Christian words that we use.
 

Affection- Kindness, tenderness

Aimless Conduct- A way of life that is useless and without meaning

Appointed- Placed in a position of authority or power

Be anxious for nothing- Don’t worry about anything

Boast- brag

Book of Life- God’s list of all who trust Christ as Savior

Bore- took (He bore our sins)

Chastisement– Correction, discipline, punishment

Conceit- Being self-centered

Confess- Openly Declare; Admit; tell

Corruptible- Can spoil or be destroyed.

Deceive- Fool, mislead

Demonstrates- Shows, proves

Denying- Saying 'no'.

Esteem- Consider

Eternal- Goes on forever and ever

Everlasting- Goes on forever and ever

Faith- Trusting what Christ has done to save me from my sin

Fulfill the lust of the flesh- Give in to the desire to do sinful things

Glorify- honor

Glory of God- God's perfect goodness

Grace- God giving me a free gift I don't deserve.

Healed- Saved from sin

Highly Exalted- Greatly honored

Holy– Set apart for God; God sees us in Christ without sin.

Iniquities– sins

Judgment- Punishment for sin

Justified– because of Christ’s death on the cross, God declares a guilty sinner “not guilty.”

Lake of Fire- the place of punishment which goes on forever and ever

Lawlessness- Disobeying God's laws

Of one accord- in agreement

Only begotten- One and Only

Mercy- not giving me the punishment I deserve

Perish- Separated from God forever.

Present Age- the period of time we are now living in before Christ comes again.

Propitiation- Sacrifice, payment

Purified- Made Clean

Purify- Make clean

Redeem- Deliver, Rescue, Buy

Redeemed- Freed forever from the punishment of my sin.

Redemption- the payment Christ made for my sins.

Remission- Forgiveness

Righteously- Doing what God says is right.

Righteousness- A right relationship with God; good things we do

Righteousness of God- perfect goodness, without sin

Salvation- Freed forever from the punishment of my sin.

Saved- Not being punished for my sin

Scriptures- God's Word, the Bible

Selfish ambition- Wanting to be first; wanting to get all the credit

Shedding- (Without shedding of blood there is no remission) pouring out.

Soberly- Seriously; not fooling around

Stripes- Wounds

Supplication- Talking to God about your needs

The righteous- Those who have trusted Christ as Savior

Tradition– Beliefs or practices passed down from one generation to another.

Transgressions– disobeying God’s laws; sins

Trespasses- Faults; falling away from truth

Tree- Cross

Truth- What God’s Word teaches

Unrighteousness- Bad things I do.

Walk in the Spirit- Live day-by-day to please God

Washing of regeneration- When I trust Christ as my Savior, my sine are forgiven, and my life is made clean by the blood of Christ

Without Blemish or Spot– clean; free from sin.

Works of righteousness- Good things I do

World– Mankind; the human race

Worldly Lusts- Sinful desires

Wrath- Judgment- Punishment for sin

Zealous- Eager, enthusiastic
